FAQs
WHY SHOULD I INCLUDE VITAMINS & SUPPLEMENTS IN MY PET’S DIET?
Advances in our understanding of nutrition and diet regulation resulting from over fifty years' worth of nutritional research suggest that a properly balanced diet, along with some canine supplements, can be an important part of your dog's diet. Supplements are different than vitamins because they often provide some type of mineral, fatty acid or dietary additive that encourages more efficient absorption in the body or uptake by cells. They can be used to compensate for too little of substances, like iodine, or correct an imbalance between minerals like calcium and magnesium, providing benefits such as; aiding in pet skin conditions, reducing inflammation, improving cognitive function, improving mobility, regulating thyroid function and metablolism.

Our high-potency organic kelp (Macrocystis pyrifera) is sourced from Akaroa Harbour New Zealand, and the specifically sourced MariVet® which features fucoidan extracted in Tasmania from certified organic wakame (Undaria pinnatifida) from the pristine waters of Patagonia and Tasmania and bladderwrack (Fucus vesiculosus) from the clear northern hemisphere waters of Nova Scotia and Brittany.
WHY SHOULD I FEED SEAWEED TO MY DOG?
Kelp and other seaweeds are highly nutritious and can play an essential dietary role as they boast over 60 essential trace minerals, vitamins and amino acids, such as potassium and iodine which are good for the heart and thyroid respectively. Seaweed helps maintain healthy fur, skin and nails whilst also assisting in weight management by regulating metabolism.
WHAT IS FUCOIDAN?
YelpKelp’s not-so-secret-ingredient and bioactive compound is fucoidan. Found naturally in brown seaweeds, specifically wakame, fucoidans are a complex polysaccharide that protect the plant from water-borne pathogens and other environmental challenges. They also do an amazing job at protecting our pets too. Scientific studies have shown fucoidan has the potential to inhibit cancer cells and reduce tumour growth, reduce colitis symptoms and gut inflammation, lung pathology caused by viral infection, as well as symptoms of osteoarthritis. At the same time, the superfood has shown the potential to significantly increase immune markers, feeding efficiency and digestibility, disease resistance and wound healing. Fucoidan also helps provide protection from oxidative damage which enables dogs to maintain cognitive function as they age. This can help prevent inflammatory responses in the brain while providing neuroprotective properties in relation to dementia in dogs. YelpKelp® contains only premium certified organic fucoidan, MariVet®, extracted and created in Tasmania. For further information visitwww.marinova.com.au
